Today, thanks to the refined renovation by Patricia Urquiola, crossing the threshold means immersing oneself in the Berlin of the Goldene Zwanziger - Germany's roaring twenties - amidst art deco echoes, intellectual sensuality and the charm of a great European capital. Animal sculptures in homage to the adjacent zoo, iconic black-and-white portraits and intensely coloured furnishings enliven the fluid and scenic spaces.
